In particular, there was a time, when I was living in Paris going to the Sorbonne in 1963 when I first heard some of Ray's stuff. After that, I was never the same musically. Also, I wanted to write something with "Gospel music" chord changes, which Ray Charles used all the time. I'm so happy that he was memorialized in a film. James Brown will be too someday."
