Bonnie Lee was a restless child
Born in the middle she was lost in the shuffle
Driven by the ned to stand alone
She stayed hom ‘til she was seventeen
Then she cried just a little as she boarded the bus
That took her as far as a one way ticket would go
She said “I wasn’t born to watch the dust roll off
This old back road
I’m gonna find my way to a place
I can call my own
There’s more to life than this small town

She took a job at a small cafe
Waited on tables for tips and small change
Thought someday she’d go to New Orleans
But springs and summers turned into falls
She watched the buses as they’d come and go
She wondered whatever happened to all her dreams
After years of dreaming of greener pastures
It was a field of stone that gave her strength to grow
A young girl barely seventeen
Drinking her coffee and
Talking of big dreams
Places that she’ll go and things she’ll see
Behind the counte of her cafe home
With silver hair and a smile that knows
