When I was young, my mama said sun
Be good to yourself and love will come your way
But now I'm grown and I'm still alone
Will somebody please tell me what have I done wrong
And why has it taken so long
Haven't I given myself the best there is to offer
I'm living the high life
And isn't it clear to all who know me
I'm living the good life, the high life
Ah but love continues to elude me
I wonder has somebody bad reviewed me
I keep a look out on the bright side
Still I see nobody by my side
Is it my foolish inclination
Or was I meant for this frustration
I wish I knew what other folks do
Sometimes I feel like I'm the only lonely one
And what gets me, is that love is for free
Still I'm like a beggar searchin' for smokes on the street
