    Lyrics »

Well, it used to be my constant companion
That low-down feelin' love is something I was born to lose
But that's all ancient history
Since I went and I had me
A fallin' out with the blues

Where you'd see one you'd surely see the other
Like some kinds of Siamese twins, we'd go around in twos
But we don't keep much company
Since I went out and I had me
A fallin' out with the blues

When I fell in with you, it changed my point of view
And I fell out with Mister Yesterday's Bad News
You showed me how sweet love can be
That's when I went and I had me
A fallin' out with the blues

Paul Craft Music, BMI Paul Craft: I read a line in a book where the author said he later had a "falling out" with a certain person. I knew both people and some of the details and remember thinking that the author had spoken volumes with a polite, succinct phrase. Susan Taylor, one of my favorite singers and friends, helped me write this song and make it a lot better. She likes to be called "Pie." This would be an example of writing a positive song out of a negative phrase.
