    Lyrics »

Only time can recover
What sense of pride that a broken heart knew
And lonely eyes soon discover
Ancient old feelings that once were brand new

Chorus:
But leave me alone... don't try to ease me
I'm not too lonesome to handle the pain
Too few lovers don't leave me
I'm gettin' used to walking home in the rain

But hold me so I'll remember
Just how it feels to be held by a friend
July turned to December
And raindrops are fallin' in my life again

(Chorus)

Black Sheep Music, Screen Gems-EMI Music, Inc., BMI Paul Craft: My favorite of all my songs. The lyrics were written on a plane from Nashville to DC, to the structure of the Eagles' album cut "Hollywood Waltz." The line "Too few lovers don't leave me" puzzles some people but, to me, it's all too clear.
