Fleetwood Mac: The Complete Recording Sessions 1967-1997 is the first book to provide full and detailed documentation of all known recording sessions of one of the most successful and top-selling rock bands of all time. Covering early hits - such as 'Albatross', 'Black Magic Woman' and 'Oh Well' - through to classic albums such as Rumours and Tusk, it also contains fascinating coverage of the band's rare recordings, released, and unreleased material.
For each session, full details are given of the location, date of recording, musicians, and availability of the songs' commercial releases. The book also contains a complete UK/US discography of first releases, which details singles, albums, as well as selected bootlegs, videos, and a list of albums released by solo members of the group. Rare insights into the recording technology and a technical index of recording terms are also included. Additional sections include individual group member biographies, chart statistics, awards, and an A-Z song-title index.
Fully illustrated with rare memorabilia, including photos, tape box covers, paperwork, and promotional items, this book will appeal to all Fleetwood Mac fans everywhere, as well as those interested in the band's formative years in the British blues scene of the late 1960's.
Fleetwood Mac have always been a hard-working band and this has earned them a worldwide respect, as well as a reputation for high quality rock and roll. Their approach ('do what feels right, but do it well') has kept them growing and evolving for the last 30 years. The recent reunion of the Rumours line up in 1997 for an MTV special and 40-date tour of the US confirmed that their story is far from over.
Peter Lewry is an established music writer and researcher and has followed Fleetwood Mac since they started in 1967. He is editor of the only fanzine dedicated to the music and career of the legendary Johnny Cash and is a regular contributor to Record Collector magazine. Other books include the earlier Blandford title Cliff Richard: The Complete Recording Sessions 1958-1990.

Foreword to Fleetwood Mac: The Complete Recording Sessions 1967 - 1997
It hardly seems possible that it is over thirty years ago that I nervously stepped on to the stage at the Windsor Jazz & Blues Festival in August 1967 with Fleetwood Mac. There were just four of us: Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood, Jeremy Spencer and me. We were virtually bottom of the bill, but nevertheless very grateful ... and terrified ... to be there. None of us could have known what the future held for the Mac (well, apart from me. I was a temporary member until John McVie came aboard two months later!)
The band played on, surviving some astonishing set-backs during the next three decades. Members came and went amid dramas and traumas. However, if ever the word resilient could be applied to any Mac members, then Messrs McVie and Fleetwood are the ones. They quite simply NEVER gave up! Lesser men would have quit ten times over, but their faith in Fleetwood Mac never let them down. Their gritty determination paid off when their discovery of the talented but hungry and unsuccessful L.A. musicians Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham led to the recording of one of the world's top selling albums, RUMOURS. A musical saga of the Fleetwood Mac soap opera if ever there was!
Of course, true to form, that classic line-up also tore itself apart, but not before producing some truly memorable music, including TUSK and TANGO IN THE NIGHT.
The period between 1990 and 1996 was a little less productive, but 1997 saw Lindsey and Stevie rejoin Christine, John McVie, and Mick Fleetwood to recreate arguably the strongest ever Mac line-up.
But perhaps the best news, as this book goes to press, is that the talented founder of Fleetwood Mac, guitarist Peter Green, appears to be making a tremendous recovery from the illness which dogged him from the seventies into the nineties. Out on the road with his band and receiving popular acclaim, Peter is regaining his love of music. There will not be any member of the Mac, past or present, who will not celebrate this, just the latest development in the life of one of the most popular and controversial bands in the world: Fleetwood Mac.
