Hey there Cats & Kittens it's the long awaited CD version of MALIBOOZ RULE!
Originally recorded in 1981, it marked the reunion of the legendary... THE MALIBOOZ! Founded in the '60s in that "lonely town" of New York City, The Malibooz' Walter Egan and John Zambetti reunited after moving to Southern California with this 1981 opus. They got original members Chris Murray, Tom Scarp, and Dennis Lopez out to play on the remake of their 60's single, "GOIN' TO MALIBU" and even scored guest appearances from legends like Lindsey Buckingham and Dean Torrence!.
Since it's release, MALIBOOZ RULE! has produced tunes for radio, TV, and film. Right "out of the tube" it unleashed the hit "HOT SUMMER NIGHTS" which was also used in the movie "CALIFORNIA GIRLS". In 1996, "GOIN' TO MALIBU" was used as the theme for the MTV Malibu Beach House Beach Party, and later that year the readers of Surf Music USA magazine voted it the #1 Surf Vocal of 1996!
The tunes still remain fresh as a salt water spray today, and in 1998 "GOIN' TO MALIBU" and "THE FLUORESCENT HEARSE" were used in the major motion pictures "BURN, HOLLYWOOD, BURN" and "PLUMP FICTION" respectively.
On this "special edition" CD, we've also included the original liner notes from the ultra rare Japanese version of the LP (as written.) as well as 9 bonus tracks like,...... "MY BABY CAME BACK ON THE LAST WAVE TODAY" from the compilation "YES, NUKES!" and "BIKINI BEACH PARTY TONIGHT" from the PayPerView Cable Special of the same name.
For those of you who can't wait for Christmas we've included "SANTA'S GONE SURFIN'" as well as 2 bitchin' new instrumentals, "TOWER 9" and "FIRESTORM AT SURFRIDER" (including the alternate "short board" takes recorded for the feature film, "THEODORE REX".
The single "SURFBEAT '81" (from the ill-fated surf festival of the same name) found it's way onto the bonus tracks as well as the boys' classic "SURFIN' & DRIVIN' (are the only 2 things I know)".
So sit back, splash on some sun block and, as Dean Torrence once said, "Guys hold on to your girls and girls hold on to yourselves......" It's THE MALIBOOZ and MALIBOOZ RULE!

The Title Says It All...

Just imagine the Beach Boys on a sugar high, and you've got a pretty good idea of what this album is all about. Songs about surfing, cars and girls. Full of great harmonies and infectious tunes, but with a far greater sense of humor than any offerings I've heard from Brian Wilson and company. Just read the song titles and you'll see what I mean. Personal favorites are "The Surfing Ghost," "Honeydew (We Cantaloupe)," and "The Flourescent Hearse." Also, be sure to check out "(I Won't Be)Too Young," a wonderful song about the teenage desire for independence, featuring a fantastic performance by Lindsey Buckingham. For the best possible listening experience, get this one on CD. The compact disc features nine bonus tracks not found on the original album and are well worth a listen. (You can order it from Malibooz.com or CDNow.com) This one is sure to make you smile, and you may even begin to refer to yourself as a Surf Bun or Bunny.
