Thiry-five years later . . .
Review written by Anonymous, August 5th, 2006
I consider myself lucky, finding this album for $3 at the resale shop. My hope that Mason's and Elliot's songs would be fine has been realized; well worth the time it takes to listen to 10 "new" old songs. Its full of wonderful harmonies and the guitar and organ playing of a past era. We'll enjoy this record for its sweetness and our nostalgia.
Hard to Believe How Long This Has Been Overlooked
Review written by Mark S. Hicks, April 19th, 2006
This record was never given a chance when it was originally released. Recordings that are understated take more than a quick listen and then write a review. And once an album is labeled, that's it. However, anyone who liked Dave Mason's or Cass Elliot's (previous or later) work will find as much or more of the passion, soul, beauty in the writing and vocals as anywhere else. My belief is that the quality of the Blue Thumb recording was mediocre, even for the time. If it was re mastered and cleaned up maybe it would be more apparent to fans of Cass and Dave that everything they have ever loved about them is right here: in spades.
Dave Mason is the master

I just saw Dave in concert this past Saturday night in Atlantic City. Still going strong at 60 years of age! He did a wonderful rendition of "Too much truth, too much love", which is the eighth track on this album.... obviously, without Mama Cass. My favorites on this album are "To be free" and "Sit and wonder", but I must comment on "Here we go again" which is a Cass Elliot solo performance. The words probably wrap up the story of her love life... but are beautifully put (she in fact wrote the song). But you can't help being entranced by her awesome voice on this song!
