Paris; short lived but sweet (5/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.0)
Review written by Anonymous from California, July 26th, 2005

I remember seeing Paris live, which is a rare feat in itself and they were definitely delivering a solid power house trio message. In the midst of all the pioneering rock bands blowing up in arenas, they played in moderate low profile venues. I believe it was a Los Angeles County based city college auditorium, maybe Rancho Dominguez but don't quote me on that. Bob was the first to mount a microphone around a coat hanger and then wrap it around his forehead so he could prance around the stage. Glenn Looked content on just rocking. While it was Bob's song writing vehicle, the band had chemistry to boot for such a spur of the moment impromptu gathering of stars. While the 2nd album Big Towne did not have the strength of the songs, it has its share of fine moments. Sad to say, with Kiss, Nugent, BOC rising to arena stardom, Paris did not break through. Beautiful Youth, Nazarene and Religion are prime examples of power house trio blazing Marshall stacks. Good stuff.

One of the best I ever heard!! (5/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.0)

This album was sooooo under-rated. It was absolutely awesome! I have got to get a copy of it or better yet, a CD of it. I'm not kidding, if anyone ever has a chance to hear this album, by all means do not pass it up. It's UNBELIEVEABLE!! Bob Welch at his best. I think we need to put out a campaign to have him tour again.

Your first hard rock album.... (5/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.0)
Review written by (leomanuel112773@yahoo.com) from USA, July 26th, 2005

This is the first Paris record I experienced, and it should also be yours. Though nothing will sub for the vinyl version, the latest CD reissue from Zoom England makes this incredibly 70's record a major sonic happening. Enclosed are several heavy juggernauts built for the tortured psychosis we have in common. For there lies the strength in this record's groovy tracks, thrusting you tilting into high volume escape and never returning from whence you began. This record hasn't the rep it deserves.

PARIS KICKS ASS! (5/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.05/5.0)
Review written by (erocktica1@aol.com) from Raleigh, NC, July 26th, 2005

There are things in this world that are perfect just as they are and defy comparison. This CD (yes it's out) is such. It occupies a time and a place where it creates it's own universe. You'll either love it or hate it, but most won't "get it". This is an "intellectual metal" piece. A little hiss is heard until the S/N ratio surpasses it (which is pretty quick). I love that metallic sound. This is pure sexual carnage! At times both simple (Black Book) and complex (Nazerene), beautiful (Narrow Gate) and brutal (Relegion). A layred tapestry of sonic bombast never to be achieved again. The perfect aural orgasam.

Rocks Greatest Chameleon Dons A New Shade...... (3/5.03/5.03/5.03/5.03/5.0)
Review written by Edward R. Schwab from St.Louis, MO, July 26th, 2005

Bob Welch starts a new chapter in his career with this lp - mainstream rock. Although, focussed more heavily on Hypnotized-derived prose and content,
Welch's own personal arranging style and Dylan-esque talk-singing add an unusual flare to what he himself admitted at the time was Zeppelin-borrowed power rock. Welch and longtime friend, Glen Cornick (it was in
fact Cornicks wife Judy that introduced Welch to the Mac five years earlier), create a layered metal song-book, almost structurally designed. This albums only real downfall is its "tinny" acoustics, which the 2001
English CD reissue did NOT repair. A further example of Welchs' almost simplistic approach to this project, which when comparing to Mac classics like Future Games or Mystery To Me, is hard to understand. It was in
fact, Welchs' brother-in-law at the time, Jimmy Robin- son who produced the LP. Yet, it is easy to comprehend why this recording was critically forgotten; Welch had completely altered his songwriting approach for this
album, not without much consternation from his Mac cohorts. Black Book, Solitaire, and Breathless are al-most metal power preaches, whereas Narrow Gate, Nazar-ene, Beautiful Youth and Red Rain showcase Welch's
gift of arrangement, even in strenuous circumstances such as heavy prose-rock. Overall, if the listener can get past the almost total lack of "haughtiness" that seemed to seep itsself into the mixing process, Paris
overall shines in areas where most other metal albums fail - the creative use of carefully-placed verbiage and generous use of chord changes and movements, paint a musical near-masterpiece.....done in lead paint...

WELCH & CORNICK TAKE PARIS BY STORM!!! (4/5.04/5.04/5.04/5.04/5.0)
Review written by K.C from CALIFORNIA,U.S.A., July 26th, 2005

For a Debut lp by two of rock's great veterans,it doesn't quite click on all cylinders but it definitely has the power to cross the finish line a winner.Bob Welch(ex-Fleetwood Mac guitarist/vocalist) & Glenn Cornick(ex-Jethro Tull bassist)have formed a tight outfit with Huntz Sales(drums) & have created a sound that rocks hard with a spacey flair at times. With the song 'Black Book' revving things up & starting things off,we're well on our way thru some good hard to almost prog-rock. 'Religion' & 'Narrow Gate' are on the spacier side but fit in well amongst the harder stuff like 'Raining Red' which finishes off the lp well.Their follow-up LP "Big Towne 2061" was more on the melodic side, but still good nonthe less.I actually was fortunate to see this band-live! GREAT STUFF!!!Unfortunately not available on cd(Hey!Bob,can you fix that?),so hang onto the lp if you find it!Sadly, only 2 releases by this band, but great while they lasted!
