Misty haze blows through the valley, on the Green where I used to walk,
Empty rooms stand, filled with silence and shattered dreams of a life now gone...
Was my father and my brother built this place some years ago, and we never thought our dreams would be broken
But no one knows what's behind closed doors...
And the Old Hyde stands on the hill, and the love that I knew well they are buried there
I will be waiting with my arms open wide...., for when I see them, when I see them again....
Now the leaves blow through the garden, and there's no sound, save their spirit....
But the house still remains, and the land it's still the same, only the song has changed...
And the Old Hyde stands on the hill, and the love that I knew well they are buried there
I will be waiting with my arms open wide, for when I see them, when I see them again....
And the Old Hyde stands on the hill, and the love that I knew well they are buried there
I will be waiting with my arms open wide.... for when I see them, when I see them....
.....Again.......

Spaniel Songs Ltd. Deborah Bonham: 'Again, this was just one of those songs that just came... The Old Hyde is the farm that John had bought back in the '70's. It has the most beautiful setting, on a hill overlooking the local Green. John had the vision to turn this place into something spectacular and, with the help of my father and brother Michael, they set about building this impressive home. My father and I also lived there in the ajoining Cottage Farm House. No one could have known that on September 25th 1980 our dreams would be broken and John would be tragically taken away from us. My hero - John Bonham - gone..... There followed many years of darkness - a time where my father never really did recover from the grief. In 1989, after my father passed away, I left the Farm, and moved to London where I live now. My sister-in-law still lives there and has kept the place as beautiful as it ever was, albeit a cloud of sadness does hang there. I have no idea why I wrote this song. One day I just picked up a pen and the Old Hyde was written. However, before I'd written the last line of the lyric, the tears were falling..... Once the night of recording the vocal, Mo darkened the studio and lit a candle. It was just me and Mo in his small studio. He turned his back and sat perfectly still as I began to sing. I fought back the tears and just managed to finish the song in one take before breaking down. Mo turned around and he too was crying. The strength, love and spirituality in this song are quite overwhelming. There is no factual reasons where it comes from or why. However, I'd like to think I know......"I will be waiting with my arms open wide..."'
