Where have all the years gone by, they seem to go so fast
Time has been good to you, you look just like you did
When I was much younger, you're as beautiful as you were then
The thought of you not here with me, is more than I could stand

Remember when that very first day, you held my hand to school
Well it's funny how, nothing ever changes, you've always been the one
Who's there when all my troubles seem, far too much for me to bare
You've always given more than I could ever repay....

And when you tell me everything will work out fine
You're my best friend and I don't want to be without you

And when you tell me everything will work out fine
You're my best friend and I don't want to be without you
And when you tell me everything will work out fine
You're my best friend and I don't want to be without you
I don't want to, be without you
I don't want to.......be without.... you.......

Spaniel Songs Ltd. Deborah Bonham: 'Written for and dedicated to my mother Joan. Songwriting is a funny thing. I've never been one to sit down and work on a song or lyric - they just sort of come to me. Some might say that I'm very fortunate, but I've always wanted to be the type of writer that sits down to work and eventually comes up with something great. I'm always in fear of the day that the songs don't come to me. Others would say "maybe if she worked on them they'd be much better"! Well this was one of those songs that just came. I had been out during the day and was continually thinking about my mother. Eventually I decided to go home and when I got there she was having a heart attack. Peter and I rushed her to hospital where I anxiously awaited the news that she was going to survive and be alright. As the hours passed, I held on to her hand and thought of how my life would be without her. I went home that night and wrote this for her, and for me.....'
