(Something's the matter...It's with my closet...)

Sometimes I wonder what's gone wrong
Most folks have lost their spark
Life without a ray of hope
Sure can get mighty dark (like my closet)
And as I started thinking
Why life had turned so blue
I saw a book of fairy tales
And suddenly I knew

CHORUS:
You gotta belive in pumpkins
If you wanna go to the ball
Don't stop yourself from having a little
And you can have it all
Faith is just like plantin' seeds
That help your dreams come true
Believe in what's around you
And good things will come to you

(...I bet you're at your wits' end about my closet right now. You've grounded me, disciplined me, and don't know what else to do.)

Now and then you're gonna feel
Stuck in the caboose
But throw those feelings out the door
And remember mother goose
Life is what you make it (...what was that, Dave?)
You can fly or you can fail (...my closet, again?)
Create a world of dreams come true
And life will fill your sail

REPEAT CHORUS IN THE VOCAL STYLINGS OF JAMES TAYLOR

(Did you find my song very nice? Did you also notice I still haven't cleaned my closet?)

Not as rosy as most people think
Review written by Steven Kostis, May 17th, 2006

The real point of this song is "You should never lose interest in the things you like to do, because depression could sink into addiction if you're not too careful". It is NOT "In case you've been away from God too long please come back to Him". Album context: Side one finishes with “Gotta Believe In Pumpkins”, an attempt at a serious “message” song about hope and faith, using imagery from the story of Cinderella. But the attempt ultimately backfires, instead having the opposite effect on the listener.
